Empowering Sustainable Procurement Through Digital Innovation
Infrastructure Policy Advancement, Bentley Systems’ thought leadership initiative, in partnership with the SDA Bocconi School of Management, is pleased to bring the global Twin Talks series to Rome.
Twin Talks canvass global best practices to apply to local infrastructure challenges. They are an opportunity to learn from successes and setbacks and to share infrastructure best practices for Mega events with the world.
Following Twin Talks in Toronto, New York and London, Twin Talks Rome will bring together government, investors, and international organizations to explore how digital solutions can empower public procurement.
Public infrastructure projects such as roads, bridges, schools, hospitals, and water systems are becoming increasingly complex in scale, scope, and stakeholder involvement. These projects often require coordination across multiple government agencies, private contractors, and funding mechanisms. Traditional procurement systems, often paper-based or semi-digital, are inadequate to manage this complexity efficiently.
Digital technologies, such as e-procurement platforms, Building Information Modeling (BIM), and AI-driven analytics offer powerful tools to reform and modernize public infrastructure procurement.
The integration of digital technology into public infrastructure procurement is no longer optional; it’s a necessity. Modern, data-driven, and transparent procurement systems not only reduce inefficiencies and corruption but also pave the way for more resilient, cost-effective, and citizen-focused infrastructure development.
Twin Talks Rome will convene a roundtable discussion led by Professor Veronica Vecchi, bringing together industry leaders from across Italy to explore how digital solutions can strengthen public procurement. The session will highlight the benefits of digital innovation in enhancing governance, transparency, and stakeholder engagement. Drawing on examples from the Milan–Cortina 2026 Olympic Games, the discussion will also consider future opportunities to scale digital procurement practices across Italy and Europe. The roundtable offers participants the opportunity to exchange ideas, network with peers, and contribute valuable insights to a forthcoming white paper being developed by Bocconi University and Bentley Systems.
